Japanese Learner’s Dictionary
Japanese Learner’s Dictionary is an online multimedia dictionary for Japanese learners which contains no less than 230,000 entries.
Database
The choice of entries was based on two databases: – Japanese Language Proficiency Test: Test Content Specifications (Revised Ed.) Vocabulary Terms List (8,000 words) – The EDR Electronic Dictionary (230,000 words)
- The important entries contain information– form (in hiragana, kanji and roman ), levels (corresponding to the old JLPT), part of speech, meaning in English, example sentences, English version of example sentences.
- The other entries contain information– form (in hiragana, kanji and roman ), part of speech, meaning in English.
Functions
Understand words aurally:
Basic words have example sentences which are auditory confirmable by its text-to-speech function.
Understand words visually:
Some of the basic words include graphics, and all words have a function of retrieving images related to the searched word using Google Image Search.
