Requesting Certificates and Other Documentation (for Graduates)





Certificates that are Issues by the International Student Center

The International Student Center issues the following certificates. Please note that we need at least four business days (two weeks in case of Certificate of Completion of Research) to prepare the certificates, therefore please ensure that you plan in advance when applying for these certificates.

* Regular undergraduate and graduate students who wish to request certain certificates, such as Certificate of Enrollment, Certificate of Graduation, and Transcript of Academic Records, should request them at the following office and NOT to the International Student Center.

Graduates from undergraduate programs: Division of Educational Planning and Administration, Department of Educational Promotion (Administration Center, 2F, Tel. +81-29-853-2199)
Graduates from graduate programs: Appropriate Academic Service Offices (Student Affairs).

Certificate of Enrollment for Research Students Necessary when applying for an extension of your period of stay (visa), bringing your family, etc. (for research students),
Certificate of Enrollment for Research Students
(For graduate school entrance examination purposes)
Necessary when you apply to take the entrance examination for graduate school (for research students).
Certificate of Completion of Research as a Research Student Sometimes necessary when you need certification with regard to your academic history when you are job-hunting or when you apply at other higher educational institutions (for research students).
Certificate of Monbukagakusho Scholarship Students Sometimes necessary when you need a certificate concerning receipt of your scholarship (for Monbukagakusho scholarship students).
Certificate of JASSO Honors Scholarship Sometimes necessary when you need a certificate concerning receipt of your scholarship (for JASSO honors scholarship students).
Certificate Of JASSO Short-Term Student Exchange Promotion Program (Inbound) Scholarship Sometimes necessary when you need a certificate concerning receipt of your scholarship (for JASSO Short-Term Student Exchange Promotion Program (Inbound) Scholarship students)
Certificate of Attending Japanese Language Programs Sometimes necessary when you need certification with regard to your academic history when you are job-hunting or when you apply at other higher educational institutions (for students who attended the Japanese Language Programs).
Certificate of Enrollment in Intensive Japanese Language Course Sometimes necessary when you need a certificate with regard to your academic history when you are job-hunting or when you apply for certain higher educational institutions (for Intensive Japanese Language Course students).

Required When You Request Certificates

If you cannot attend at the ISC in person to obtain various certificates, you must appoint someone as your proxy. To avoid identity theft, please send the following documentation to the International Student Center by post or by facsimile prior to arranging for someone to pick up your documentation.

  • Application Form
  • A copy of your personal identification (for example, ID card, drivers license, alien registration card, passport, etc.)
  • (In case you wish the ISC to send certificates by post) Postage charges in either Japanese postage stamps or International Reply Coupons)
  • (In case you wish the ISC to send certificates by post) Self-addressed envelope (240 x 330 mm)
  • (In case your proxy picks up the certificates on your behalf) A Letter of Attorney (Free form)

*"International Reply Coupons" are coupons for sending postage charges to another country. They can be purchased at a post office in all member countries of the Universal Postal Union. (A sample is shown here.) For further information, please contact the nearest post office in your area.
