Scholarships
Scholarships for self-supporting students are divided into two types, according to the application methods: The first type of scholarship requires application through the university (Scholarship through University recommendation), while the second type allows direct application to the scholarship foundation (Scholarship through Individual Application).
Scholarship through university recommendation includes “Japanese government scholarship (Monbukagakusho Scholarship) through Domestic Selection”, “Tsukuba Scholarship”, JASSO Honors Scholarship, and scholarships through private foundations. Interested applicants must apply through the “Selection of Scholarship Grantees for Self-Supporting International Students” announced every year.
Scholarships through individual application are announced every year on the bulletin boards of respective academic service office. Every year scholarship openings from around 20 scholarships foundations are announced in the column (of the above bulletin board) for Scholarship through individual application each soon as they are available.

from the various scholarship foundations, a selection committee in
the International Student Center selets student for recommendation among the candidates nominated
by each educational organization of the university according to the

required in order to

documents, through the
dean of their educational organization, to the President
of the university.

scholarship foundations.

The following procedures are only applicable
to Monbukagakusho Scholarship students.
Procedures for Receiving Scholarship
In order to receive the monthly scholarship, the students must put their signature
(or their seal) on the current list of scholars at the Division of International Students
between the 1st and 6th of every month. When it is impossible to come during the
above-mentioned period because of travel or other reasons, the students must obtain
their academic advisor's approval and submit in advance a "Notice of absence from
residence" to the ISC Office.
The scholarship will be transferred into the individual's postal savings account
around the end of the month. Should the students fail to sign
within the specified period, payment of the scholarship
may be delayed till the following month.
Note:
- Payment for April and October of every year may be delayed.
- If the students fail to sign for one month, their monthly
scholarship for that specific month shall be forfeited. If students are
absent from the university for a long time, their monthly scholarship for
that period will normally be suspended.
- Please note that if you change your visa status from "College Student" to
another status, you lose the qualification for receiving the Monbukagakusho
scholarship and you will stop receiving the monthly stipend.
