The JEES (Japan Education Exchanges and Services) web-site provides a wide range of information such as that concerning the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and Comprehensive Renters Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan.

Health Administration Center, University of Tsukuba

The web-site of the Health Administration Center, University of Tsukuba contains information concerning clinic hours and a health services guide. Health services are free for university students.

University Library, University of Tsukuba

Information Regarding Daily Life in Japan

Immigration Bureau of Japan

This is the web-site of the Immigration Bureau of Japan, which oversees various activities concerning foreigners resident in Japan. Visa renewal, changes in name/address, re-entry permission, and permission to have a part-time job are just a few of the procedures that you may need to do during your stay in Japan. Students of the University of Tsukuba can either go to the Mito Branch Office or the Tokyo Immigration Office to undertake for these and other procedures.

Tsukuba City Website

This is the official web-site of the Tsukuba city. At the Sakura Branch Office of Tsukuba city, Tsukuba University students can carry out foreigner registration procedures, as well as apply for national health insurance and other procedures.

Postal Saving ATM Information

In order to use cash cards issued by foreign banks or credit cards issued abroad to obtain funds in Japan, you must use an ATM machine that is part of the Cirrus or PLUS network. This web-site offers information on where these ATMs are located throughout Japan.

Ibaraki Prefecture Driving License Center

Information regarding obtaining a Japanese driver's licence or changing your home country driver's licence to a Japanese one is available at the Ibaraki Prefecture Driving License Center web-site. A Japanese driver's licence is necessary for driving in Japan. An international driver's licence is only valid for one year in Japan, and after one year, students must undertake procedures to obtain a Japanese driver's licence.

JAF (Japan Automobile Federation)

In order to have your home country driver's licence changed to a Japanese driver's licence, you will need an official translation of your home country licence by JAF. More information is available from this web-site.

Tsukuba Chuo Police Station
