Application documents should be sent to individual Exchange Coordinators at the University of Tsukuba, through your Exchange Program Office.
This application should be sent in a complete package containing the following documentation:
- Application for Exchange (Research) Student at the University of Tsukuba

- Formal letter of request for admission

- Official certificate (transcript) of academic records or officially authorized documents
- Resume

- One copy of your passport (if available)
- Two (2) photographs (3 cm x 4 cm)
- A certificate confirming the bank account balance
- A document that certifies that the applicant is a recipient of a scholarship from his/her own country (if applicable)
- Junior Year at Tsukuba Program (JTP) application form (For JTP applicants only)

There are three different deadlines for application to study at the University of Tsukuba as an exchange student or as an exchange research student, depending on when you want to commence your study. Please see the table below.

The Junior Year at Tsukuba Program (JTP) is a special part of our exchange programs and is
specifically designed for undergraduate students. The JTP offers a unique opportunity for
exchange students who are interested in studying in Japan from one trimester to one year. The
credits earned at Tsukuba can be transferred to the participant's home university. Every year the
JTP hosts more than 60 students from our exchange partners in North America, Europe, Oceania,
and Asia.
