Exchange Students and Exchange Research Students

Exchange Students (Tokubetsu Chokogakusei)

  1. Exchange students from higher educational institutions sharing Academic Exchange Agreements with the University of Tsukuba will be admitted to take courses at the University of Tsukuba. Credits earned at the University of Tsukuba are fully applicable to graduation requirements at their home institutions. Applicants must arrange to have an application form sent directly from the president of their home institution to the president of this university at least 3 months prior to the new trimester. Final approval will be obtained through permission from the related colleges/graduate courses of this university.
  2. As a rule, all courses are conducted in Japanese. There are, however, a limited number of courses in English which target undergraduate students from English-speaking countries, specifically those on the "Junior Year at Tsukuba Program (JTP)".
  3. Applicants are required to make advance contacts with academic supervisor of this university in their major fields of study. Acceptance will be difficult without a university supervisor.

Exchange Research Students (Tokubetsu Kenkyugakusei)

  1. This program is open to foreign students who are enrolled in graduate programs of other universities (2nd year od study and above) and who wish to undertake studies in the graduate schools of this university.
  2. Applicants must arrange to have an application form sent directly from the president of their home institution to the president of this university at least 3 months prior to the beginning of classes. Final approval will be obtained by permission from the related graduate courses of this university.
  3. Applicants are required to make advance contact with a university supervisor in charge of assisting them with their study plan.
